Gleb Burnashev was born in 1992 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Because of the Civil War that started there, he emigrated with his family to Slonim, Belarus, where he spent his childhood and adolescence. At the age of 17 I went to Minsk, got a Bachelor's degree in political science and stayed to live and work in Minsk.

In my projects I study political and civil crises, the interaction between the small man and the state, repressive apparatus, migration processes, both local and global. Taking into account the history of my family, emigrants in several generations, my focus is now shifting towards memory and its distortion. Working in the mediums of performance, video, photography and artificial intelligence.

Reaction to the events of 2020 in Belarus (protests and civil crisis) became political performances and photo and video installations:

- Performance & Video project "We Make Human Out of You"
- Performance & Video project "My State" together with the Belarus Free Theatre - Performance & Photo project "In August 2020"

by the state.

STEITMENT.

The themes that Gleb shows are not random. Each of them relates directly to him. Gleb is a reactionary artist. Living the event - realizes the response to what is happening. Works related to state violence and repressive apparatus were dictated by the events in Belarus after the elections in 2020, in which Gleb directly participated and felt the repressive apparatus and the impossibility to resist it. Having emigrated to Poland, he began to explore the theme of emigration, as his family are hereditary emigrants in many generations, the search for his own identity and sense of homeland. The space of memory and its impermanence. Nostalgia
