HomoSisyphus

This photo is a reflection on forced emigration. When a person unexpectedly encounters new meanings and traditions. He appears before the world naked, without the customary armor. Fragile and without protection. With all the baggage of memories and values he has accumulated throughout his life. Abandoning them means betraying himself and becoming someone else. It's a hard and difficult choice that is almost impossible for many people to accept. In order to build a new identity, the old identity must be destroyed completely, and an expatriate identity must be created on its ruins. This difficult choice discourages many people who continue to carry their burdens. Like the ancient Sisyphus, they endlessly and aimlessly lift their stone uphill, repeatedly throwing it back into the abyss of memories, nostalgia and regret.

The project was realized within the framework of an art  grant from the City of Warsaw.
